This is the message I had read for the opening of the Leader recognition
Dinner I was in charge of, but did not attend due the loss of my beloved wife
who was 45 years old.
I hope it will mean something to each of you.

My Fellow Scouters and Friends
The Leader's Award Recognition Banquet is one of my favorite District events
each year. This is the time that I personally take great pride and enjoyment
in helping to recognize each of you for your outstanding service to Boys
Scouts and our youth.
I thank each of you for your dedication and work. So many of you have helped
me "Deliver the Promise" to our scouts, and more importantly I call you my
fiend.
Three years ago, I began the giving of a very special award. I called the
Spouses Award. For each of the past three years I have been privileged to
give beautiful roses to my wife. As I presented these roses, I asked each of
you to recognize and thank your spouse for allowing you to be part of this
great program.
This weekend I will present serling roses to my beloved wife for the final
time. My god bless her and keep her. We all loved her and will miss her.
I pray that each of you take just a moment to thank and appreciate your
spouse. Recognize the gifts they give to you and to scouting in sharing you
with this program.
To each of my friends. Thank you for being there for me. I love each of you
and my God provide and care for you.
Your friend Always.
