A lurker speaks. I thought I'd add a comment here from the other side of the
big pond.
We started taking our cubs away to London for the weekend near Christmas
time a few years ago and have made it an annual event.
The first time we went, we organised a weekend of sightseeing, including a
trip to Madame Tussauds Wax Museum, the London Planetarium, a trip to a
Pantomime, and a morning at the London Science Museum.
The highlight for the children? Putting their tickets into the automatic
barriers at tube stations. So much so that the following year we decided to
play a game of monopoly and tried to visit as many places on the London
Monopoly board. Gave the kids a chance to use their underground/subway
tickets a lot.
