There are many catalogs that sell clothing for hunting that have a
wide variety of camo patterns for cargo-pocketed pants. Not every
camo pant is a military issue item.

Now possibly you were looking at what you in fact know to be military
BDU, I just wanted to open up the possibility that the crew in
question had been into a hunting catalog.
