I don't understand why this is a hard concept to get an agreement on.

Can a boy get credit towards leadership for Star as band president?
The answer is no. Can a Boy get credit as Crew President for an Eagle
he is advancing for in a Troop. HE SHOULDN"T. Can he get credit for
leadership in OA for stuff he does in the Troop? (Don't know, but I
bet not) This shouldn't be a matter of discussion, let alone
confusion. Why isn't it a requirement that a YOUTH must hold a
leadership position in the unit they are wanting to advance in.
Patrol leader in Troop for advancement to Star, Treasurer in the Crew
to advance. It's an old concept, but still applicable "Dance with the
one that brung ya!"

Many of us are forgetting the GIRLS. They are a major part of the
membership in a Crew. They have to hold a leadership position in the
Crew to get credit for it. Would we allow Girl Scout time to count
towards a Venture crew. The answer is obviously not. (I told MY
daughter no.) So it's simple, What goes for one should go for the
other.

I would like to see that stated in a clarification of future rank
advancements.
