Advancement Reminder

Just a reminder to everyone: The requirements for advancing to Star,
Life, and Eagle Scout include specific time requirements. Since the new
requirements take effect on April 1, 1999, the following rules apply:

CURRENT Requirements:
Scouts, Sea Scouts, and Venturers who became First Class Scouts before
December 1, 1998, have until April 1, 1999 to complete the CURRENT
requirements for Star Scout.=20

Scouts, Sea Scouts, and Venturers who became Star Scouts before October
1, 1998, have until April 1, 1999 to complete the CURRENT requirements
for Life Scout.=20

Scouts, Sea Scouts, and Venturers who became Life Scouts before October
1, 1998, have until April 1, 1999 to complete the CURRENT requirements
for Eagle Scout.=20

Either CURRENT or NEW Requirements:
After January 1, 1999=A0 these Scouts, Sea Scouts, and Venturers may use
either the current or NEW requirements until April 1, 1999.=A0 (The Board
of Review MAY take place after April 1st, if the requirements are
completed by that date.)

NEW Requirements ONLY:
Scouts, Sea Scouts, and Venturers who were NOT First Class Scouts by
December 1, 1998, must use the NEW Requirements to advance to Star
Scout.

Scouts, Sea Scouts, and Venturers who were NOT Star Scouts by October 1,
1998, must use the NEW Requirements to advance to Life Scout.

Scouts, Sea Scouts, and Venturers who were NOT Star Scouts by October 1,
1998, must use the NEW Requirements to advance to Eagle Scout.

After April 1, 1999, ALL Scouts, Sea Scouts, and Venturers must use the
NEW Requirements for all advancements.=A0=20

CURRENT REQUIREMENTS ONLY:
Explorers (Participants in the Learning for Life Exploring program) will
continue to use the requirements in the 1998 Boy Scout Requirements Book
until December 31, 1999, after which they will no longer be eligible to
advance without also being registered in a Boy Scout Troop, Varsity
Scout Team, Venturing Crew, or Sea Scouting Ship.
