Thanksgiving Thoughts

Michael Bowman (mfbowman@USSCOUTS.ORG)
Sun, 29 Nov 1998 22:29:43 -0500

As the Thanksgiving weekend was drawing to a close, I was thinking again
over the many blessings that I have in life. One of them is the warm
friendships and wonderful acquaintances that I have had with other Scouters
over the years. So often in our workplaces we see a lot of stress, people
that take life way too seriously, and sometimes just a few many challenges
in a week. We hear so many stories whether from workplace colleagues, the
news, or other sources that tell about all the things that seem to be going
wrong. It is so very refreshing to be in the company of a group who can for
the most part adopt a lighthearted attitude, enjoy a little fun, show a bit
of support, and share in the sheer joy of seeing the next generation grow to
adulthood better prepared to meet the challenges of the future. It is
comforting to know that no matter what part of the globe our travels lead us
to we will find brother and sisters that are part of our world fellowship
and that in no land we will ever need to feel without friends. And most of
all it is extraordinary to see the amount of sharing and helping that goes
on in our virtual community across the Internet. These are indeed rich
blessings.

Mike
