Summertime Pack Award Pins

Yes. it is true that the Guidelines recommend that only one summertime award
pin be placed on the uniform. However, let us not forget that we are talking
about Cubs and they are pretty impressed with the awards that they earn and
they like to show off by displaying their impressive past acheivements, such
as belts so full of Sports and Academic belt loops that almost no webbing
shows.

When I was Cubmaster ( a 50+ year old pack with over 90 boys) we allowed the
boys to wear all the summertime pins that they had accumulated. Similarly, we
didn't make a big deal if the boys wore more than one Years of Service pin.
True it looks a little cluttered but the main point is for the boys to be in
uniform, proud of wearing it, and proud of their accomplishments.

To paraphrase (in case I get it wrong) someone who was quoted here recently,
"Scouting is a game and not a science." Let's not let the details get in the
way of our primary purpose, to teach important life skills while letting the
boys have FUN.

As the boys move into Boy Scouts then we adhere to the guidelines and tell
them, "This is the PROPER uniforming procedure." At that age they understand
and accept those rules a little better.

I'm sure many may disagree but in my humble opinion (IMHO) {in case yau are as
new to these lists as I} it is not a major issue at the Cub level.
