Re: A rose by any other name . . .

While I certainly can't speak for Jon, I thought I would throw out my ideas
on editing a list...(which comes from my meager experience doing on the
Venture list...)

I tend to give conversations a long lee-way. Venture is not a moderated
list in the sense that every message is read before it is posted, though I
know that such exist. I only intervene when members of the list e-mail me
personally (or to the list) with concerns about topics and such. We have a
"hands-off" mode on Venture.

I am on a list that appears to be at the whim of the moderator--those who
criticize the moderator will be removed. I am in total disagreement with
this policy. I am likewise in disagreement with any moderators who send
personal e-mail to list members saying that their messages are inappropriate
*unless the moderator can attach a copy of the list rules with the message*.
It is for this reason that I am no longer a member of another
scouting-related list.

In any case, it appears to me that Jon is somewhat hands-off, which I think
is pretty good...these threads tend to work themselves out.
