A rose by any other name . . .

I received a private e-mail that implied that, yes, there *had* been
clear flaming on the list, and that only because Jon had been otherwise
occupied had any such flames slipped through. That raised a couple of
questions in my mind:
1. *Does* the listowner exercise editorial oversight as to the contents
of each post?
2. If so, does the poster whose post was rejected get any notice that
his/her post had been rejected?
As to 1., frankly I have no problem if clearly inappropriate posts
("You, too, can make a Million Bucks! Really!") are filtered out, and
the same for posts that are obscene/scatological. I'm a bit more
concerned if Jon (or others) are imposing their personal standards to
bounce well-intended posts, especially if the poster isn't told about
the censorship. With the usual backup on the list, it may be a day or so
before a post appears, and I, for one, don't keep that close a tab on
what I've submitted.
For the record, this is *not* intended as a flame, and in any event Jon
can do whatever he wants to with the list -- I'm just curious what the
"rules" actually are.
