Amen Bill!!

I agree with your words completely. While "Dr. McGraw" may have been a teacher
he did NOT diagnose ADD/ADHD. He merely assisted in the evaluation process.
Only LICENSED medical practitioners (Psychiatrists, psychologists and the
like) can make the final determination. Which is a wonderful thing since in
his opinion 90% of the kids are bright, bored and without self-control. I
can't imagine where my son would be, or our family for that matter, if someone
has dismissed my very intelligent son as just bored. Puullleeessseee!!!!!
It is not my intention to take away from the very important role of teachers
in this process. It is a group effort. Teachers and parents working in tandem
to help define the specific details that are needed for the diagnosis. If the
Professionals were to rely on parents alone or just teachers alone then there
would be medication anarchy.
Please let's get the list back to more important issues and the reason for
this list: to serve as an information exchange focused list and not the blast
furnace of misinformation and mud slinging that seem to continue endlessly.
YIS
Janie Keller,
Mom to ADHD CUB
