Camping near Mt. Greylock?

Hi all....

My Troop is doing a rafting trip on the Deerfield (MA) River in October and we
have been turned down for reservations by two private campgrounds who
absolutely refuse to have Scout groups there. I can only conclude that some
folks aren't as good campers and citizens as our kids, but that doesn't help
me now. I offered to give a deposit but it's out of the question, and the
local State Forest ranger is leery of having us too, because of the behaviors
in the private facility....

So... does anyone have experience/phone numbers/etc for a campground or
private land or **BSA camp** nearby where we can reserve a place for about 15
(well-behaved, excellent campers) Scouts & three or four adults? Please
respond SOON, because we have to know whether to plan a camping weekend (Fri-
Sun Oct 9-11) or slog thru a three-hour drive each way for a day trip alone on
Sat.
