I am pleased to announce two new Jamboree collections on the Pine Tree We=
b
(http://www.pinetreeweb.com). Each provides a special look at one of the
early World Jamborees.
This is the is the beginning of a collection based on JAMBOREE1933-MAGYAR
CSERKESZ, the official newspaper of the 4th World Jamboree held at G=F6d=F6=
ll=F6,
Hungary in the summer of 1933. Recently, I located a bound copy of the
complete issues of the newspaper. The stories are in many languages,
including English, French, German, Hungarian, Polish and others. I hope=
to
add a few of these in the future. The photos in this collection are take
from the pages of Jamboree 1933. The quality of the news photos is
sometimes less than adequate, but they offer a unique perspective on this
important moment in Scouting. Some of the photos were retouched by hand,
and some of the illustrations appear to be line drawings.

The second series includes the complete contents of THE SCOUT JAMBOREE BO=
OK:
American Scouts at the 3rd World Jamboree written "by fifteen Boy Scouts
from whose stories this book was taken." Edited with a by James E. West,
Chief Scout Executive. This is a truly first hand account of World
Scouting's largest gathering. 50,000 Scouts converged on Arrowe Park in
England for this "coming of age" jamboree in 1929.

The Pine Tree Web is expanding its coverage of the early jamborees. Next
will be a series of photos from the 5th World Jamboree held in Holland in
1937. This was the last Jamboree before the Second World War and marked
B-P's farewell.
Other Jamboree pages are brought together at:
http://www.pinetreeweb.com/bp-jamborees.htm "B-P at the World Jamborees,
1920-1937."
As always your comments, criticisms and suggestions are appreciated,
Yours in Scouting,
Lew Orans
