Re: Junior Leadership Training Patch

(no name) ((no email))

Lorie McGraw <llmcgraw@WORLDNET.ATT.NET> asked:

>They all more than earned the Trained patch for their uniforms.

Which goes below their badge of office/position emblem on the left
shoulder...

>We'd also like to present the JLT patch to them at the next
>COH, as well as a certificate. My Question: The >old< Insignia
>Guide (which I have) lists the JLT patch as a youth patch to be
>worn as a temporary patch. Apparently the >new< Insignia Guide
>(which I do not have) lists it as an adult patch only.

Nope. It's just on the same page as the adult leader recognitions,
Lorrie. Here's what the information below the JLT emblem on page
27 of the 1998 version of the Insignia Guide states:

"Junior Leader Training, cloth, #00096, BOY SCOUT (my emphasis),
right pocket; hat pin, #00089."

Also on that same page is the National Junior Leader Instructor
Camp - Philmont, for Boy Scouts, also worn on the right pocket
center.

Note that EITHER the JLT patch (Council) or the NJLTI Patch is to
be worn...NOT BOTH.

The reasoning for putting both youth and adult leader recognitions
on the same page is to reduce the pages and to emphasize the role
of the youth leaders as LEADERS and not just as members as in the
past.

Hope that helps out, Lorrie...there's also some really nice JLT
certificates that you can pick up (if you haven't already!!) from
your local Council office. I've got the BSA stock number somewhere
around here....if you can't find it, let me know and I'll post it!

Settummanque!

Which is correct? Can these
