'lawyers who defend criminals'

I'm not following your point, but perhaps that is because I have my
blinders on at the moment.

The 'lawyer who defends criminals', as you put it, is perhaps the same
lawyer who would defend your son if accused of theft or worse, or
defend you if accused of child abuse or worse, or your loved one if
accused of a crime. And this applies for both the reasonable
accusation and the false accusation.

May you nor anyone you know ever venture down a path
of wrongful conduct, or worse, be falsely accused of criminal conduct,
but I am confident, if you are, you will not be seeking out a tax
lawyer, or a probate lawyer, or a high finance lawyer, or a personal
injury lawyer, you will be looking for a 'lawyer who defends criminals'.

Some folks are wrongly accused, some are accused of the wrong action,
and some are destined to be found guilty of the crime for which they
are accused. It is the 'lawyer who defends criminals', more often
than not,
that brings the light on and aids folks with ending up in the
appropriate category. Some times this means acquittal or dismissal.
Sometimes it means a conviction with an appropriate range of
punishment instead of excessive punishment that stems from less than a
fair shot at the truth. And yes, sometimes it means someone goes home
who 'everyone' knows did it, but whose rights
were violated by those we trust and pay to NOT violate our basic
rights as citizens.

All parties in the world do not adhere to Scouting principles, and
sadly, that does include people in positions of power in law
enforcement and the prosecution function. When less than honorable
people are in such powerful roles, you best pray there is a 'lawyer
who defends criminals' nearby.

Stepping down, putting soapbox in trunk, driving
slowly away from the town square.
