Another perspective: In Michigan, it is now against the law to carry any
weapon to school for any reason. You may have seen some news stories on how
ridiculously this is being interpreted in the courts. So in Michigan, if you
meet at a school, no one may bring a knife of any kind. (Saws are also
considered to be weapons, but we haven't gotten any flack from that yet.) We
do whittling chip at Day Camp so that the boys can be exposed to it in a non-
school setting. Others have whittling chip meetings at a differently location.
