!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE READ THIS !!!!!!!!!!!!!
====================================================================
Hi all ...
I'll be off to summer camp at the end of this week and I leave the
Scouts-L list in the capable hands of the Gary and Kyna Hendra.
If you are interested, my troop is doing their own summer camp
this year ... boy does that take a lot of planning ... but worth it
We are going to Lake City, CO and will be joined by the scout troop
there.
Anyway, to help out the Hendra's please try and pay particular
attention to these guidelines:
- DONT SEND MIME or HTML EMAIL! The listserv does not handle mime
or html formatted email (especially in digest mode) besides the
majority of readers cannot handle it anyway. If you dont know
what is ment by mime or html, ask your local support person.
- The BEST guidelines in ALL postings is to abide by the Scouts Oath
and Promise. It is valid to discusss ideas and to disagree
but NEVER, NEVER on a personal level.
- Dont quote messages when replying (if you feel you just have to,
then EDIT OUT ALL BUT WHAT IS MINIMUMLY NECESSARY)
- Keep your postings realated to scouting topics. These virus hoaxes
are taking way too much time/resources away from our normal
topics. Just dont post such things.
- Use private email whenever possilbe (congratulations, thanks, etc.)
- Keep length of lines 72 characters or less
- Keep signature lines reasonable in length (4-5 lines max)
- No commercial advertising
- Its nice to include your return email address on your signature line
- Learn how to use your email software so you dont make mistakes
Failure to follow these guidelines may cause your postings to
be moderated.
If you have misplaced your copy of the WELCOME file, you can get
a new one by sending email to "LISTSERV@tcu.edu" with a one line
message (no signature lines) that says "GET SCOUTS-L WELCOME".
There is a 50 message limit per day on the list and we've been
hitting it on a daily bases lately. This limit is there for several
reasons including limiting the amount of resources being used on
our computers, stopping "run-a-way" posts, and what I call a "get
a life" factor :) I currently have no intentions to change this
limit ... so ... keep in mind the audience of your posting and when
appropriate, use private email.
Yours in Scouting,
Jon Eidson, Listowner Scouts-L
