We have about 40 registered adults in our troop...and at least 20 of them
are extremely active. We leave tomorrow for Camp Alexander in
Colorado...and 16 adults are going to stay all week with our 63 youth
campers. This is the AVERAGE adult participation for our troop. The
secret is simple, and its just the same as with the boys......MAKE IT
FUN!!! Have activities for the adults to participate in, dont overload
any one adult with chores or responsibilities...and dont ever pressure
someone to take on a position or responsibility they dont feel
comefortable with.
Its easy to MAINTAIN large numbers....but building them up is a tad
harder. Just try to include everyone, make them feel welcome, and be
like the camel outside the tent...just a little at a time and pretty soon
they will be all the way into the scouting program.
