Tents

Our troop uses Kelty Dome tents. My son and I each have a Kelty Vortex 2 (a
3-season tent) and they are wonderful. Perfect for 2 scouts. The tent is
rectangular; however, when you put on the rain fly it becomes a dome. A
door on each side and the rain fly forms vestibules so you can keep shoes,
and firewood dry. We tie packs to trees and put covers (plastic trash bags)
on them. As the boys are starting to buy their own tents they are
purchasing Vortex 2s. These tents are right at $200 but factory seconds are
$109.00. These tents go up in 5 minutes--two aluminum shock corded poles
and some stakes. When we replace the troop tents, these are what we plan to
buy. Have used them in high winds, and heavy rain, they have additional tie
down loops on them to use if necessary. Absolutely no problems. I highly
recommend them.
