Re: Adult Leaders without boys

Our Troop has a number of Scouters whose sons have "graduated" from the
Troop. We still welcome their involvement. However, my experience in the
few years that I've been there is that generally they are not as interested
in the heavy involvement with the Scouts that they had before. I can think
of several reasons why this might be so (e.g., need a break, liked activity
with son, etc.) I only hope that they don't feel that they aren't wanted.
Some have said specifically that they want to step back from the previous
level of involvement. One is now Advancement Chair (although he now wants
to step down from that); and one frequently works with the new Scouts on
their T, 1,2 requirements at Troop meetings, but generally does not go
camping. He has a lot of patience in working with these boys, more than
I'll ever have. Others help out here and there, but are not part of the
active ASM corps.
