Greetings,

I just finished Webelos Leader Outdoor Training this weekend
(aka. OWL training). They taught us (and we used the method) that
it's wash, sanitizer and plain water rinse. I have not checked
the field manual to make sure that's right, but that's what we
were taught.

The part of all this that was new to me was that they made a
big point of heating up three very large pots of water to near
boiling. The one that was closest to warm vs. hot was the pot
they added soap to and was used for wash. That made sense since
that was the one we had to stick our hands in for scrubbing.
The other two, they had some thick rubber gloves and tongs
available, so we could dunk our stuff in the two rinses without
scalding anyone. My mom taught me (and my wife keeps reminding
me) to use hot water for washing dishes, but this was beyond hot.
I have no problem with doing it this way, I'm just not sure
how important that is (being that hot).

More later,
