Re: ?? Religious Symbol on CSP!!

Stephen Hoar makes some (to me) valid points.
For a number of years, the Wipila Wiki Lodge of the OA
(now Grand Canyon Council, used to be Theodore Roosevelt
Council) used the mask of the Antelope Kachina on its
lodge flap. I would call that a "religous symbol".
I'm not sure why it was discontinued, but the current flap
uses the Tawa (sun face), which is the totem of the old
Grand Canyon Council, and is _also_ a Kachina.
FWIW, Kachina are godlike beings to the Hopi, Zuni, and
other Pueblo tribes. I don't remember what the Apache call
theirs, but the Navajo call them Yei-be-chei (yay-ba-shay).
Wipila Wiki was a priest (could have been a chief, had he
wanted to) of the Antelope Clan of the Hopi. The Antelope
Kachina was placed there in his honor. He worked closely
with the Boy Scouts here for a number of years, and was the
ranger at our local property the "Heard Scout Pueblo" until
he could no longer do the job. I consider myself honored to
have met him, at the conclave in 1961.
And, someone will undoubtably correct me if I have made a
mis-statment, here. ;)
