To both Steves, and all:
I too advanced only to First Class, and no further. It was not due to lack
of interest on my part, but to lack of being able to keep a scoutmaster in
the mountains of Western NC. We never had any assistant SM's, and never
went a full calendar year with a SM in place. I understand that the troop
is no longer in existance, and has not been for some time.
I always regretted not being involved in a better troop, and being able to
climb higher in rank, but still I learned a lot from scouts, and am now a
dedicated Scouter. Still I will never have the advantage or thrill of
being able to say that I am an Eagle scout. I do not consider myself a
failure either, I just wish I could have done more.
I will however, soon be able to wear the WB Beads of SR-201, when my entire
patrol is beaded together as a group sometime in August.
