desparate situations call for desparate solutions. Bribery worked for me.
You may remember my posts on beadmania. To increase attendance (and
REVENUE) at our cake auction I awarded one bead per person the scout
brought along to the event. I awarded one bead for each meeting the scout
attended and one bead for being in uniform (there were other bead earning
opportunities too). This was a short term thing.
How about an awesome door prize (get it donated!). I like the idea of
volunteers (future committee people).
What about competitions between dens for "something"? Something that they
must do at the event you want attendance at.
Do awesome things. Do new things. Are you having fun? I always think
that if I am having a good time, that the boys and parents must be having
fun too. This "gauge" has worked so far because I am usually the one
stressed out and worried and least likely to enjoy the evening.
