Re: Immediate Recognition

Our BoRs are scheduled every two weeks on the regular meeting night. After a
BoR the paperwork is prepared and I take it to the National-run Scout Shop (in
the same building as our Council office) and purchase the appropriate awards
(charging them to our unit draw-down account so getting money is not an
additional obstacle).

The badges, rank and merit, and cards are presented at the next regular
meeting the following week. At the next general court of honor we present a
homemade certificate listing all accomplishments since the last court of
honor. Occasionally we will reserve a special award for surprise presentation
at the court of honor, like the individual national camping award or scout
leader training awards. We also give out service stars at the courts of honor.

We hold courts of honor like a school semester calendar -- at the end of the
"Fall term" around January, at the end of the "Spring term" around June, and
at the end of summer camp week in July.
