Patrol Flag Ideas

Wayne Hill (whill@CBIS.ECE.DREXEL.EDU)

Hi All!
I just wanted to share this with you. We have four patrols in our Troop and
I made up Patrol Flags for each patrol.....yes I know the boys should do
it, they designed it and helped but I wanted a nice looking product.
Anyway I noticed that they really take pride in their flag and it helps
them identify themselves as a patrol. Attendence has improved, patrol
scout spirit is up, more competition between patrols, and I see a
difference. I want to get a device to hang on there flags that identifies
the Service and Program patrols for the month like they do in Woodbadge.
I'm thinking a dust pan for the Service Patrol and a clock for the Program
Patrol. I'd like to hear ideas from you all about this, as well as other
things you may do to motivate your Scouts by using the Patrol Flags as a
place to hang awards they compete for between patrols. I also would like
to hear about the design of the award, for example a large metal (a painted
piece of 6" round plywood with a red, white, and blue ribbon) that the
patrol whom wins the game that week gets to keep on their flag until the
following weeks game.

How about some ideas on this topic, I'm really getting tried of the 3G's.
