I hope we ALL suport the BSA stand in any subject area. That's what we
affirm when we sign the adult application. Read it again if you don't
understand. It does not mean we neccessarily agree with BSA policy, but we
must support it.

>If you read the rec.scouting.issues or my earlier message,
Nope, don't participate in rec.scouting anymore. Too much about why things
aren't this way or that. Which is where this discussion belongs - Scouts'L
is a roundtable for ideas and program matter, and sharing experiences
between us on our Scouting activities.
>It seems to me that we have an organization speaking on behalf of all of
>us, and nobody has been asked where we stand.
I go back to my first response - we signed the application. We should have
read it. BSA is not speaking on behalf us, BSA speaks for BSA. We signed
the application agreeing to abide by BSA policy. If we do not agree with
BSA policy, we have the right to discontinue membership.
>What is wrong with getting some feel for where Scouter's stand on these
issues?
Nothing wrong with it. This just is not the proper place to do so. The
clutter would be too great and we solve nothing by doing so. We are limited
to how much traffic we can put here, so let's stay on the right path. The
discussion propoed is far more suited to rec.scouting - within their charter
and capabilities to support the large volume of traffic.
>After all, this is a volunteer led movement, or is it?
Yep, BSA sure is volunteer led. But this proposed survey/discussion is a
Scouts-L issue, not a BSA leadership or policy issue. Lest we forget, this
IS NOT a BSA discussion list, it is a Scouting/Youth Serving discussion list
.. It includes all Scouting associations around the world.
