The response so far has been 9-3 against doing a poll, so unless I hear
differently soon, I will drop the idea of doing a survey.
One response of many thoughtful posts;
"When you are happy about something, you relax and let it flow. That
is why you did not receive comment by those of us who are content. Only
those who wish to argue that sinful conduct should not bar entry into
the BSA made a comment."
That does help justify the majority response that Psibolt (Mike
Montalvo) and I recieved in response to his posts Friday, which is what
prompted my suggestion.
I still think it would be informative to know where the volunteers stand
on these issues however, but I have no idea what forum to turn to
without utilizing this one. Rec.scouting.issues is not the place, too
many trollers that are definitely NOT interested in Scouting's welfare!
I just got an e-mail suggesting I try; http://www.bowline.org .
I shall do so!
I am concerned that Scouting is becoming increasingly isolated from the
public it hopes to serve, perhaps in part by these conservative views
(most of which I agree with incidentally).
And before I get clobbered for suggesting that Scouting IS becoming more
and more isolated, let me make an offer to anybody who is doubtful, and
interested in seeing the membership charts for the entire BSA history, I
can e-mail them to you upon e-mail request.
They require Excel to read, but they are eye openers! I am hoping to
get them onto the web soon, but a web site takes more time and resources
than I have to spare currently.
I'm not sure exactly what, but we have to do something as a movement
soon, or I fear that Scouting will become a trivia pursuit question.
That at least should be of interest to this group!
Good Scouting!
