here is an answer I have recieved..........this has also been much
discussed in the PTA discussion group especially since many of the
parents active in
scouts are active in PTA.......

and let me also remind you that just as there good Troops and
bad......there are good PTA's and bad.....a lot depends on the current
leadership and the support system that is in place.....please don't judge
all PTA's by a bad experience in your PTA just as I hope others won't
judge Scouting by an experience with a poor Troop.......each group has
it's own agenda depending on the people involved
