As a career military person, I frequently spent time in other
countries. When I was at a sporting event, especially one between teams
representing two countries, it was common courtesy to stand politely,
while national anthems of these countries, abeit not my own, were being
played. We also slauted officers of other nations when we saw and
recognised them. Again, common courtesy.

I will admit that I was a bit surprised when I discovered that a nearby
southern state had the Stars and Bars as its state flag, but then I was
a bit surprised by hominy grits when I first went into the deep south,
too. Different strokes...as the Yamaha dealer said.
