IMO, FWIW, I don't think that getting hung up on a particular definition of
"God" is worthwhile. The BSA doesn't attempt to define "God", it just wants
the member to have some belief in a higher power. Whether you call it God,
Allah, Jehovah, Mumbo Jumbo, the Force, or the Great Bird of the Galaxy,
seems to me to be irrelevant. That higher power doesn't have to demand
regular worship, or anything at all for that matter. Prayer isn't required,
and in many religions (including Christianity, Buddhism), the most sincere
form of prayer is to live your beliefs (praying with your life). Public
displays of piety (with little other observance) have been criticized in
the Bible and elsewhere.
The concept of God gives whatever morality and values one espouses some
sort of stability, since unlike any morals and values created by man, they
are not subject to change by man at and for his convenience.
