: Looking for Help w/ DisCOURTEOUS Scouts

When the sign is up and our "comedy crew" is acting up, our
Scoutmaster (an experienced HS teacher) will give the one with the
biggest mouth the evil eye and say "Mr. (scout's last name) do you
want be part of this Troop or do you want to go home?" Naturally, he
quiets down and once the ring leader is quiet, so are the rest. We
may have to do this a second time that night, but never a third time,
because we will call the parent and send the offender home.

One thing I used at Summer Camp when two boys were ignoring the sign
before raising the colors one morning and acting up, was to turn to
the rest of the troop and ask "how many of you appreciate that our
two friends here are wasting all of our time and making us late for
breakfast." The other boys then asked the two offenders to quiet
down and we had no problems the rest of the week.

This is a problem that you solve one boy at a time. Single out the
ringleader and the others should follow.
