I'm new to Scouts-L, but I am really glad to be here. We are a cub
group in Guangzhou, China. It is quite difficult to get supplies here
and we have to be very creative in making scouting work.

I am the Webelo Leader of 18 boys. One fund raiser we did to raise
funds for a Webelo Campout was to make food (sandwiches, suichi,
cookies, brownies, cakes, etc.) and drinks (koolaid, lemonade, and
sodas), and then sell them at the High School Play. The boys did all
the work with the Leaders supervising. The boys were paid back for the
investment in supplies for making the food and the drinks, and then the
den collected the net...which amounted to over $100.00 each performance
nite. We sold our concession before the play, during the intermission,
and then after the play. It was a great success.

I sought out the HS principal for permission. The play's program even
mentioned our den as officiaters of refreshments!

I also would like to here other ideas for raising money!

Our Troop rakes a large campground every Spring - it takes 3-4 evenings, depending on how many Scouts and family members can make it.  We get $500 to clear all the campsites of leaves / branches / pine needles.  The money is apportioned to the boys for summer camp.

What does your Troop do to raise funds?  I would love
to hear what other Troops do to raise funds that are not door to door sales
so I can pass on this information.
