1998 Scout Trip to Bulgaria

Turba, Thomas N (Thomas.Turba@UNISYS.COM)
Sun, 1 Mar 1998 16:22:40 -0600

This summer I will be leading a third Scout trip to Bulgaria. We will
be camping on the Black Sea, having homestays with Scout families in
Sofia (the capitol) and Varna (on the Black Sea), doing sightseeing in
several cities and other areas of interest, and doing some touring
within the country. This trip will be from Friday, August 21st to
Friday, Sept. 4.

Currently, there is room for more Scouts (both Boy Scouts and Girl
Scouts) and leaders who accompany youth from other councils. The cost
for this trip is estimated to be about $1,450 per person for people from
the central part of the U.S. Cost for west coast people would be more
(airfare is more to get to the departure city of New York), and cost for
east coast people would be less. Costs would also be less for people
that have free airfare that can get them to J.F.K. (the departure
airport).

Further information on Scouting in Bulgaria and a report on the last
trip can be found at http://rampages.onramp.net/~lporans/rtn-bulg.htm

People who participate in this trip will be asked to learn a few simple
Bulgarian courtesy words and phrases (phrase books and tapes will be
provided) and to help bring and provide Scouts books, camping equipment,
and other things needed by the Bulgarian Scout Organization.

For further information on this unique Scouting opportunity please
contact me.

Yours in Scouting
