appropriate service project?

I have a problem with a service project my sons troop is doing for their
chartered org. and would appreciate any feedback as to whether I'm off-base
or not. Thhe situation:

The troop is chartered to aother service organization celebrating their 20
year anniversary. The service project involves the scouts serving as waiters
for the celebration party the organization is having. The biggest problem
I'm having is that this party is being held in their bar. The scouts are to
be serving coffee & water during the 2 hour social time & then serve/clear
dinner plates, etc.

My concern is that 1. these scouts are working in this environment(plenty
of alcohol/smoking) 2. They are wearing their uniforms while doing

I had a breif discussion with the SM, I need some of the lists wisdom before
I decide what my next step will be.

If you could email me privately I would appreciate anyones insight & widom

Thanks Bob
