Re: altenative headgear

My understanding has always been that the uniform, although it may get
outdated, does not become obsolete. The spipulation to that is that you
can't mix and match (wearing a 1960's sytle shirt with today's pants).
I beleive that you could, however, wear the beret with any uniform,
while the field cap could be worn with only uniforms made of the same
material.

I may be mistaken though, and please, if someone knows the "rule" share
it with us!

I heard a rumor that BSA units may opt to wear uniform headgear no
longer available through national. Can anyone comment on this, and, can
anyone tell me a source for the red scout berets or flat "field caps"?
The baseball-style hats just don't do it for me, and the smokey bear
hats would be a hard sell for my scouts. (too dorky) I like the new
wide-brimmed "slouch" type hat, but it's pretty expensive.

Thanks in Advance,
