Here's one we did on our Lock-In last October and the Scouts couldn't get
enough of it!
BagEggs
Ingedients:
Two strips of bacon
One egg
One brown paper lunch bag
In one brown paper lunch bag place the strips of bacon so they cover the
bottom of the bag. The bacon should be thawed well before attempting this.
It is important to make sure that the bacon strips for a sort of bowl in the
bottom of the bag (more than two may be used).
Crack the egg into the bag so that it stays withing the bacon "bowl". Now
all you have to do is hold it over some coals until everything is cooked.
Lessons learned by our Scouts on their first try:
1) Pay close attention to how close to the coals you hold the bag. Wrapping
the top of the bag over a stick works very well.
2) No flames! Heat from the coals will cook the bacon and the egg well
enough. Bacon produces grease which is flamable and increases the
flamability of the paper bag considerably. Flames + Grease + Paper = No
Breakfast.
Another Variation on the theme:
Orange Eggs (much the same concept except that the egg is cooked in the rine
of an orange half. Bacon is not necessary for this one, and it helps to eat
the orange pulp first (I honestly had to tell a Scout that once). Troop 381
hasn't tried this one yet, but it's only a matter of time. Come to think of
it, we've got a campout on the weekend of the 21st ...
