Hi, I'm still here. My exams at the beginning of term went ok, so I'm
just working hard for the next lot now :(
Anyway, not wanting to clutter up the list with "hello"s, the real reason
for replying is to point out that your list of abbreviations, and the one
posted earlier, are both very BSA-biased. So I thought I'd provide a list
of British abbreviations - it may even encourage some more posts from over
here, you never know your luck :). I've included some other common
non-scouting-related abbrevs too:
SL Scout Leader (=Scoutmaster)
BSL/CSL/VSL Beaver/Cub/Venture Scout Leader
GSL Group Scout Leader (a group is one or more of a beaver
colony, cub pack, scout troop and venture unit)
DSL District Scout Leader (also DBSL, DCSL, DVSL)
DC District Commissioner (head of the district, volunteer)
CC County Commissioner (a county contains several districts)
PL Patrol Leader (in Scouts)
A- prefixed to any of the above meaning Assistant
SPL Senior Patrol leader (not the same role as SPL in BSA)
ADC(blah) Assistant DC in charge of blah, eg Scouts, Activities,
Disabilities, Public Relations etc
PLC Patrol leaders council
PiC Patrol-in-Council
HTH Hope that helps
HAND Have a nice day
FWIW For what it's worth
AFAIK As far as I know
:) Smiley!
That's all I can think of atm (oh, there's another one - at the moment),
but I'm sure I'll think of more as soon as I send this...
David
