Re: alternatives to OA

I too was troubled by the "Great Spirit" comment in reguards to OA and
agree with Ted's comments. Lack of knowledge is no excuse for ignorance.
I would suggest that anyone having a problem with Native American belief
should read "The Pipe and Christ" by William Stolzman. This cooperative
study and comparison of Catholic and Lakota Sioux rituals is enlightening.
The conclusion is that both are parallel but different.

Lets see, kind of like Chatolic and Assembly of God or any other
denominations.

Another good resource is " The Gospel of the Redman" by Earnest Thomas
Seton. The following is from this book, "Many years ago in Montana, I
heard a missionary severely rebuke an Indian for driving his team on
Sunday. The Indian looked puzzled, as he was merely minding his business
and caring for his family. The missionary reiterated that this was the
Lord's Day. At last a light dawned on the Indian. He glanced up with a
gleam in his eye and answered,"Oh, I see. Your God comes only one day a
week; my God is with me every day and all the time.""
