Howdy, NELCnetters/Scouts-L gang!
With Scout Sunday coming up VERY soon, having a copy of "A Scout Is
Reverent, Scout Sunday Observance," Bin No. 5-961, would be an excellent
reference for all Scouts and Scouters wishing to observe this annual
celebration in the best possible manner.
I am in need of a copy of this pamphlet. I visit our Scout office a
couple of times each week and today I looked for this specific item. It
wasn't there! Oh, NO!!!! Plus, our registrar and faithful Scout office
clerk has resigned to go work elsewhere (better job, higher pay, we'll
miss you, Sharon!), and it will be a while before the council hires a
replacement and gets that person trained. Needless to say, ordering bin
items through the Scout office is a "back-burner" item. By the way,
"bin" items are free for us, the volunteers, but the councils have to
pay for them. If you notice a scarcity of bin items that you think
"should" be at your Scout office, this might explain why. High usage
items are continuously stocked but the occasional, nice to have bin item
has to be ordered.
So, does anybody have a scanned copy of "A Scout Is Reverent, Scout
Sunday Observance" that they can send me? It would have to be in either
Word (*.doc), text (*.txt or *.rtf), or html (ahhh, you know) format. I
haven't trained my browser how to retrieve Word Perfect or other types
of documents yet. If I can get a copy, I'll include it on our troop's
website for others to download (both in Word and RTF formats). And, it
will see nearly immediate use at my church. (Actually two churches: our
troop is sponsored by Moody AFB and I'll attend one of their chapel
services on Scout Sunday as well as the service at my own church, Bemiss
United Methodist.)
If I could possibly get a copy this weekend, I'll be able to take it to
our troop's meeting on Monday and get more of our Scouts involved. Last
year, I went to Scout Sunday at the base chapel, got to stand up and
speak for a moment about Scouts and Reverence, and had a fabulous time!
I want to build on that experience this year and share it with more
Scouts and Scouters in our area.
Well, the flare is up: I'm asking and hoping. I'm posting to both
Scouts-L and the NELC list in hopes that one of ya'll can assist. If I
receive lots of responses, I'll try to think of a suitable way to return
the favor! Thanks in advance, folks.
Yours in Scouting,
