That is my fear, too. However, we've found friends who come along on an
outing or two to be a great recruiting source. We've picked up 3 new
Scouts in the last year who started off as "Can my friend so-and-so
come?". That's why I've let it go as long as I have.

I think that's a factor. I don't think we can count on any involvement
from his parents, as they are not very involved with Dan in general. I
guess I really don't have a problem with getting him to meetings and
such. He lives right across the street.

As far as the financials, he's very ambitious. I think he would easily
earn his own way. The family is not poor, but may possibly have
different priorities for their money.
