Re: A puzzler

Cathy,

I think I will give it one more try. He really is a nice kid, who I'd
actually enjoy having in the troop. I don't really think money is a
problem for the family. We live in a nice neighborhood, and Dan's dad
has been talking recently about buying a bigger, nicer house. He has all
the latest toys, and Dan never seems to have trouble coming up with the
cash for Cmaping Trips and other outings. So, I think it's more a
question of how the family decides to spend it's money, rather than a
shortage of it. I do get the sense that Dan is mostly ignored. I
getting little hints, like the fact that he never seems to need to be
home by any particular time. On the other hand, he IS ambitious. He is
always working the neighborhood offering to shovel snow, mow lawns, rake
leaves, etc. Maybe I'll have that one-on-one with him and just pay for
him the first time, as Doug R. suggested. If Mom and Dad don't want to
spend the cash on Scouts, I suspect that once he's in, between fund
raisers and personal ambition, he'll be self sustaining. I don't think
we can count on Mom and Dad to drive him anywhere, but he DOES live just
across the street from me.

Thanks for the ideas,

John
