An alternative I'v thought of is to have all the names embroidered on a
large piece or pieces of material, cut them out, fold the edges under and
press them flat. They can then be sewn on like a patch. I have a small
home embriodery machine and have made CAMP STAFF lables for our summer
camp staff hats and it works well.
I bet if you checked some mom in the unit probably has a sewing machine
that has some simple embroidery capability like letters built in and could
do it. You would be amazed at how many people have that capability and
either don't use it or think about it.
