Actually, B-P was a "Sir" several times over. He was knighted by the King
in 1909 and invested as a Knight Commander of the Bath (K.C.B.) and a
Knight Commander of the Victorian Order (K.C.V.O). In 1912, he became a
Knight of Grace of St. John of Jersalem; in 1923 the Grand Cross of the
Victorian Order (G.C.V.O); and in 1927 he became a Knight Grand Cross of
the Order of St. Michael and St. George. In addition, he received several
foreign Knighthoods, as well as the Grand Cordon of the Legion of Honor
(France).
