John--
I can say that Marvin R and Cliff G are right on the mark in saying that a
parents' (and perhaps a PLC) meeting is the way to go in revitalizing. It
was just such a meeting that got us back on track when our previous SM
burned out. But, I'd like to offer a friendly amendment and suggest that
someone from OUTSIDE the troop moderate the meeting. If we hadn't had
outside help in, I don't think we would have gotten anywhere--things were
pretty tense at our first meeting with the "swat team," (lots of
finger-pointing back and forth) and they helped calm the group down.
Now, John does say his District staff is weak, but there might be someone
else to turn to. A member of the chartered organziation not in the troop,
perhaps. If others have had similar experiences, they might want to suggest
other sources for a "mediator."
