First question first. Several years ago at a Roundtable, a group of us
Cubmasters were discussing Leader Recognition. One gentleman mentioned that
his Pack had a tradition of the Cubmaster hand-making the recognitions for
the other adult leaders. I liked this idea and adopted the tradition for our
Pack. The first year I made name tags (cut a branch off the cherry tree in
my back yard, bias-cut 1/8 inch slices and engraved their name and "Pack
379". A little varnish and a pin on the back.) The next year I made each a
"dream catcher" with blue suede covering the hoop and yellow webbing, blue
and yellow feathers and beads and a Cub Scout charm from the BSA catalog.
Last year it was leather plaques (from Tandy Leather's catalog).

Last year opened my eyes a little. I spent about an hour and a half on each
of these placques. My wife was Committee Chair and also chaired the banquet
committee. Three weeks after the Blue and Gold, I took the placque out of
her purse and put it up on the shelf where we keep such things. The Boy
Scouts (we hold our B&G in conjunction with our Troop's Court of Honor) made
a certificate using a print shop-type program, declaring her "Greatest
Cook". That piece of paper was immediately placed on the shelf as soon as we
got home. The point is, stuff the boys make is better than stuff we adults
make. So this year, I'm making "Mini Skin Frames" (used to be in the BSA
catalog, didn't see it in the newest one. Still available from Tandy) I'm
having the boys write their names on the back of the skins, and I'm
decorating the fronts. (I bet most of them get displayed with the front to
the wall, but that's o.k.)

Second question: the BSA Catalog has a "graduation certificate" in the
catalog. They are inexpensive and look nice. We give them only to the boys
who are graduating from the Pack to the Troop, as part of the Cross-Over
Ceremony.
