Philmont Horse Cavalcade

In June, a crew from our troop will participate in an 8-day horse
cavalcade at Philmont. Over the years, we've participated in several
backpacking expeditions at Philmont but this will be our very first
horseback adventure. So far, Philmont has not sent any advice on how to
prepare for this type of trek. Other than making sure the crew members
are skilled at riding a horse, do members of the list have suggestions
that will aid our crew in preparing for their 8-day adventure?
