Anita,
One year my brother decided upon a pickup truck with a simular thought in
mind. His solution was to add wood (balsa) to the sides of the block
creating the effect of wheel wells. He also put a piece on top to form the
cab. You may want to check with your pack for any rules or guidelines that
may apply to this unique situation (every unit does it differently). My
brother found out on race day the the cab was about 2mm to tall for the
finish line tower. Disappointment was averted. He raced the truck
backwards so the bed of the truck would break the light sensors.
