Jim,
I work with the Cub Scouts, but have contact with some Boy Scouts.
Our district holds what they call a lock-in, but it's a fun night for all
scouts in the district and any invited Webelos scouts. It is held in a
centrally located YMCA. It begins Sat night at 7:00pm and goes until
9:00am Sunday morning. The scouts can swim (YMCA &/or BSA lifeguards) for
the early part of the evening. There's also organized basketball games,
competition board games, Nintendo games, relaxation, simple food stands,
one main evening meal served around midnight and many other events I can't
recall right now. They try to get APO (fraternity?) folks to help run the
events. It falls under the Activities chair and finding an SM or two to
organize the event is very difficult, but the Boy Scouts just LOVE it! I
kind of liken it to an indoor winter camporee event.
