How True. I am helping a friend who is starting a new Troop. The two
suggestions I gave him that helped our adult leaders over the rough times
was create a Troop Mission Statement and find someone with the same passion
to build a successful as you.

When Troop activities aren't going the way you think they should and you
have a couple of frustrating meetings , it's easy to forget why you started
the Troop in the first place. It's at these times we step back and review
our Mission or Goal Statement. It is a couple of broad philosophical goals
that reminds us why Troop 386 exist. It's our compass that guides us
through the forest when we can't see around the trees.

And as for the "another you", burnout is the primary reason for unit
failures. Even the best of engines quit when it runs out of gas. Share the
fun because it is worth sharing.

We didn't realize how important that mission statement was until a couple
of years later. But I am glad we did something right because I still love
this Scouting Stuff.
