Ken,
I saw one of those rope making machines at a country fair/bazaar in North
Georgia recently. First time I ever saw rope made that way. This little old
lady had a dozen big spools of multi-colored yarn and you could pick your
favorite colors and she would twist it all together as you turned the crank.
At; Wood Badge, we had a rope making demonstration (an additional project
which my patrol never got to) of making rope using twine, sticks, and a coffee
can. I'll bet if I go downstairs and check, it is in Woods Wisdom. If not
(not knot), I'll bet you can find more on such things by searching the web on
the subject of knots.
OOPS, I think I'm off on that trail.
